SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Tom Trenkle of Waukegan, who passed away on April 4, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Tom Trenkle was born on November 5, 1928 in central Illinois; he grew up on a farm between Champaign and Bloomington; he attended Purdue University and later came to Waukegan where he met his wife of 49 years, Doris Copp; and

WHEREAS, Tom Trenkle worked at Abbott Laboratories for over 30 years in the Quality Assurance division; and

WHEREAS, Tom Trenkle's faith was a central part of his life; he was active in the men's club and the school at Immaculate Conception Church in Waukegan; after his retirement, he was at the church more often, helping count the Sunday collection and "hanging out" with the pastor and the priests; and

WHEREAS, Tom Trenkle was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, and a granddaughter, Michelle Leccesi; and

WHEREAS, Tom Trenkle is survived by his wife, Sheila; his children, Tim Trenkle (Jeanne), Mary Beth Berg (Gary), Kathryn Connell, Jean Leccesi (John), Martin (Malissa), Christopher Trenkle, and Kurt Trenkle (Nancy); step-children, Steven (Cathy) Burkey and Ryan (Julie) Burkey; grandchildren, Ryan Snow Trenkle (Elizabeth), Margret Miller (Justin), Karalyn Sica (Louis), Michael Connell, Jennifer Leccesi, Joseph Leccesi, Max Trenkle, Shannon Trenkle, Mia Trenkle, Scott (Tara) Trenkle, and Kaylie Trenkle; step-grandchildren, Michael (Amber) Burkey, Nicholas (Jaclyn) Burkey, and Jenna and Caitlin Burkey; 3 great-grandchildren, Audrey Anne, Noah, and Benedict Trenkle; and step-great-grandchildren, Zachary and Hunter Burkey; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Tom Trenkle; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Tom Trenkle as an expression of our sympathy.
