SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Rodney A. Iwema of Gurnee, who passed
4away on March 29, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rodney Iwema was born on June 14, 1939 in Chicago;
6his parents were John A. and Minnie Iwema; he married the love
7of his life, Diane Ippel, on June 10, 1961 in South Holland;
8and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rodney Iwema graduated from Hope College in
10Holland, Michigan in 1962 and received his Master's Degree from
11the University of Illinois; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Rodney Iwema was a teacher and administrator in
13Harvey and Dolton, serving as Illinois and Superintendent of
14Gurnee School District 56 from 1974 to 1982; he was also a
15State Farm Insurance Agent until his retirement in 2001; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Rodney Iwema was active in Boy Scouts, earning the
17rank of Eagle; he loved to travel, bike ride, hike, scuba dive,
18camp, and geocache, and he enjoyed creating stained glass art
19and jewelry from tumbled rocks, woodworking, photography, and
20collecting; he also enjoyed watching his children's and
21grandchildren's events and traveling with his wife; and

1    WHEREAS, Rodney Iwema was an active member of Gurnee
2Community Church, the Gurnee and Grayslake Exchange Clubs, and
3Gagewood Lions Club; he was also a trustee for the Grayslake
4Fire Department; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Rodney Iwema is survived by his loving, caring
6wife of 52 years, Diane; children, Kent (Sherri) Iwema, Cheryl
7(Eric) Dorobek, and Darrell Iwema; brother, Larry (Kathy)
8Iwema; sister-in-law, Sharon (Randy) Boonstra; grandchildren,
9Kaleen, Connor, and Cole Iwema and Jessica and Joshua Dorobek;
10one niece; and 3 nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Rodney A. Iwema; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Rodney Iwema as an expression of our
17sympathy.
