SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jean Demetra Valko of Waukegan, who passed away on January 17, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Jean Valko was born on March 5, 1922, in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Jean Valko was a former employee of Mandell Brothers and Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Jean Valko was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Jean Valko was preceded in death by her husband, George Valko; her son, James Valko; her parents, Vassilios and Stamatina Petrakis; and her siblings, Andrew (Dona) Petrakis, Esther (George) Christopher, Tom (Magdalene) Petrakis, and George (Mary) Petrakis; and

WHEREAS, Jean Valko was the loving mother of William (Elizabeth) Valko and Peter (Kathleen) Valko; the dear grandmother of George (Laura) Valko, Andrew (Sara) Valko, Jennifer (Laiq) Azam, and Christopher (Stephanie) Valko; the fond great-grandmother of Alexa, Noah, and Demetra Valko and Sulaiman Azam; the dear sister of Chris (Stella) Petrakis; and the fond aunt of many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Jean Demetra Valko; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jean Valko as an expression of our sympathy.
