SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Herbert Claussen Snider of Crystal Lake, who passed away on April 7, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Snider was born in Chicago on December 5, 1928 to Frederick and Stella (nee Claussen) Snider; he attended Morgan Park Military Academy and graduated from Iowa State University; he served in the United States Marines during the Korean War and married Blanche Cravener on July 4, 1953; they lived in Hickory Hills, Oak Lawn, and Hoffman Estates, before settling in Crystal Lake; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Snider was an active church member and volunteered his time to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry and his church for over 20 years; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, military history, and genealogy; and

WHEREAS, Herbert Snider is survived by his wife of 60 years, Blanche; 5 children, Steve (Mary), Don (Michelle), Jim, Scott (Deb), and Sheri (Tony); 12 grandchildren, Rachel, Richard, Christina, Don Jr., Laura, Matthew, Kelly, Keith, Jamie, Alyssa, Andrew, and Sarah; 6 great-grandchildren, Madison, Morgan, Emma, Liam, Andrew, and Lauryn; and his brother, Frederick (Ann); therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Herbert C. Snider, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Herbert Snider as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
