SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Ernest P. Massimo of Waukegan, who passed
4away on March 2, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ernest Massimo was born in the state of
6Pennsylvania on March 19, 1916; he served during World War II
7with the 3rd Army division and was part of the D-Day invasion
8and the Battle of the Bulge; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ernest Massimo worked in the coal mines in
10Pennsylvania; he retired as a construction engineer for the
11Curran Company in Lake County and belonged to Union Local #150;
12he was past-post commander of both the Waukegan Veterans of
13Foreign Wars and the Waukegan American Legion; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ernest Massimo enjoyed bowling, was considered an
15excellent cook, and took pride in teaching others how to cook;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ernest Massimo was preceded in death by his wife
18of 37 years, Neva; son, Joseph Massimo; brothers, Albert
19Primavera, Dominic Massimo, and Nello Massimo; and sister, Mae
20Burneff; and

1    WHEREAS, Ernest Massimo is survived by his wife of 18
2years, Helena Massimo; children, Leberta Jean Garino, Ernest L.
3(Katherine) Massimo, Edward (Brenda) Massimo, Mark (Diana)
4Massimo, Anthony (Mary) Massimo, Brian (Lori) Massimo, Gary
5(Susan) Massimo, and Margaret Kubic; 19 grandchildren; 24
6great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; 1
7great-great-great grandchild; brothers, Donald Massimo and
8Carlo Massimo; sister, Clara Massimo; and numerous nieces and
9nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Ernest P. Massimo, and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Ernest Massimo as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
