SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of George "JR" Dodd of Beach Park, who passed away on April 11, 2014; and

WHEREAS, George Dodd was born on February 24, 1928 in El Dorado; he served in the United States Navy during World War II and settled in Waukegan after being discharged; and

WHEREAS, George Dodd drove race cars at Waukegan Speedway, Wilmot Speedway, and Lake Geneva Raceway for several years and was founder and original board member of the Interstate Racing Association; and

WHEREAS, George Dodd was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; granddaughter, Christine Urbanik; sister, Mary Hafford Kennedy; brother, Bobby Dodd, Sr.; and his parents, George and Goldie Dodd; and

WHEREAS, George Dodd is survived by his children, Darrell Dodd, Rose (Tim), Roy (Joyce) Dodd, Wendell Dodd, Kathy (Jeff) Hutson, Carla (Ralph) Nickel, Donald (Jenny) Dodd, and Donna Urbanik; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and sister, Wanda Lawrence; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of George "JR" Dodd, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of George Dodd as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
