SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marilyn J. Roedell of Peoria, who passed
4away on April 22, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell was born on January 13, 1927 in
6Peoria; her parents were Francis F. and Mary L. Bobeck; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell earned her Master of Criminal
8Justice from Sangamon State University in 1987 and her Bachelor
9of Social Work from the University of Illinois; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell founded and was the Director of
11the Witness Information Service in the mid-1980s for the Peoria
12County State's Attorney; she was formerly employed as a Crisis
13Counselor at OSF St. Francis Medical Center Emergency Room for
143 years and served as a social worker for Catholic Social
15Services; on May 16, 1979, she was sworn in as the first female
16Deputy of the Peoria County Coroner's Office; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell was a parishioner at St. Thomas
18the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights; she was active
19in Cursillo, the Peoria County Democrats, and the Woodruff High
20School Alumni Board; she also founded the Divorced Catholics
21Group with the Peoria Diocese in 1977; and

1    WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell enjoyed playing poker, planting
2flowers, and spending time with her family, especially at
3birthday and holiday celebrations; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell was preceded in death by her
5parents; a grandson; 2 sisters, Pauline Noirot and Frances
6Patton; and a brother, James Bobeck; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Marilyn Roedell is survived by 3 children, Mary
8Theresa Roedell, Richard M. (JoAnn) Roedell, and Helen
9Quitschau; a sister, Suzanne M. Draher; 9 grandchildren; and 17
10great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Marilyn J. Roedell;
14and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Marilyn Roedell as an expression of
17our sympathy.
