SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1088

 
2    WHEREAS, On June 19, 2004, the Middle East Conflicts Wall
3Memorial was dedicated commemorating the servicemen and women
4who have lost their lives in worldwide conflicts since 1979;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, The project was conceived by Jerry Kuczera and
7Tony Cutrano; it was built with donated material and labor and
8is the first of its kind in the history of the United States to
9give honor to fallen soldiers by name while the conflict is
10ongoing; and
 
11    WHEREAS, The names on the wall represent fallen heroes from
12such diverse locations as Panama, Lebanon, the Balkans,
13Grenada, Somalia, Haiti, the USS Cole, the USS Stark, terrorist
14attacks in Italy, Greece, and Scotland, and the current
15conflicts in the Middle East; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial is located
17along the Illinois River in Marseilles; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
19ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate June 21,
202014, as Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial Day in honor of
21those who have fallen in the War on Terror.
