SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Estill Ray Arnold of Moline, who passed away on March 28, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Estill Arnold was born in Memphis, Missouri on October 14, 1918 to Emmett and Grace Estill Arnold; he served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II and married Dorothy Miller in 1941 in Little York; after the dissolution of his first marriage, he married Norma Price in 1970, and they later divorced; and

WHEREAS, Estill Arnold owned and operated Arnold Tree Service and Landscaping, which covered most of Central Illinois and Eastern Iowa, for many years; after retirement, he did volunteer lawn work at Westside Assembly of God in Davenport, Iowa and at Calvary Church of the Quad Cities, where he was a member; and

WHEREAS, Estill Arnold loved reading the Bible, was a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed rides in the country, Whitey's Ice Cream, family cookouts, and croquet; and

WHEREAS, Estill Arnold was preceded in death by one son, Jim Arnold, and by 3 of brothers, Richard, Harold, and Paul; and

WHEREAS, Estill Arnold is survived by his children, Mary Arnold, Eldon (Bev) Arnold, Charlotte (Tom) Pier, Pamela (Michael) Medas, Rhonda (Dennis) Gourley, Lori (Greg) Graham-Sullivan, and Christa (Johnna) Kay; his 18 grandchildren; his 21 great-grandchildren; his 2 great-great-grandchildren; his brother, William Arnold; and his special friend, Lula Minor; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Estill Ray Arnold, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Estill Arnold as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
