SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gollie Mae (nee Mobley) Rodgers of
4Chicago, who passed away on March 15, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was born in Council, Arkansas on
6August 26, 1946 to Clinton, Sr. and Beatrice (nee Floyd)
7Mobley; she graduated from Anna Strong High School in Marianna,
8Arkansas in 1966 and attended Prairie State College in Chicago
9Heights; she married Claymon Rodgers on September 26, 1966 in
10Chicago; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers worked for Trine Stone Cleaners in
12Chicago Heights, Four Seasons Nursing Home in Hazel Crest, and
13ITW Impro in Monkena, where she retired after over 33 years of
14service; she also worked for the City of Chicago Heights Park
15District; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers enjoyed traveling in the United
17States and abroad; she also enjoyed spending time with her
18family and worked for many years on behalf of the Mobley Family
19Reunion, serving as secretary; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was a member of Calvary Baptist
21Church in Chicago Heights from 1973 to 2000, where she served

1as Sunday school teacher, choir member, and in the women's
2missionary department; from 2000 to 2014, she was a member of
3the First Union Missionary Baptist Church in Ford Heights,
4where she served as a member of the treasury board, choir
5member, member of the pastoral care committee, and member of
6the feeding ministry; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers was preceded in death by her
8parents; her daughter, Wanna Joyce; and by her husband of 43
9years, Claymon; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gollie Rodgers is survived by her daughters, Wanda
11and Donna; her grandson, Michael E. Hunter; her granddaughters,
12Destiny J. and Ericka C. Hunter; her sister, Mary H. (Henry
13Jr.) Mobley Thompson; her brother, Clinton Mobley, Jr.; her
14in-laws, Bobby Rodgers and Katherine Edmond; a host of nieces,
15nephews, and cousins; and her First Union Baptist Church family
16and her "son", Pastor Dr. Robert M. Foster; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Gollie Mae Rodgers, and extend our sincere condolences to her
20family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
21further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
