1     AN ACT concerning education.

2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:

4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
5 10-20.55 and 34-18.48 as follows:

6     (105 ILCS 5/10-20.55 new)
7     Sec. 10-20.55. School building construction; consultation.
8     (a) A school board must consult with law enforcement and
9 security experts in the design and planning stages of the
10 construction of any new school building or any additions to or
11 major remodeling of an existing school building.
12     (b) This Section applies only to buildings that students
13 physically occupy. This Section does not apply to
14 out-buildings, maintenance buildings that are not affixed to
15 existing school buildings, or concession stands. This Section
16 applies only to construction, additions, or remodeling that
17 meets the requirements of Section 10-20.21 of this Code.
