HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the employees, administration, and board of Eisenhower Library for their 40 years of dedicated service to the residents of Norridge and Harwood Heights; and

WHEREAS, The history of Eisenhower Library began in 1968, when the "Friends of the Library for Norridge-Harwood Heights" was formed to begin the process of starting a community library; after a "Name the Library" contest was held at local schools, the library was named after President Dwight D. Eisenhower; and

WHEREAS, Eisenhower Library was first opened in Parkway Towers in 1972; the following year, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library District was established; in 1974, the library was relocated to leased quarters, which was later purchased and expanded; and

WHEREAS, In 2008, a brand new LEED Silver-certified building was completed, and Eisenhower Library was moved into this state-of-the art facility; and

WHEREAS, The employees, administration, and board of Eisenhower Library serve as models of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the employees, administration, and board of Eisenhower Library for their 40 years of dedicated service to the residents of Norridge and Harwood Heights and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Eisenhower Library as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
