HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy Marie Blechle of Carbondale, who passed away on February 18, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Blechle was born in Perryville, Missouri on March 25, 1970 to Robert J. and Georgia Fay (nee Henderson) Blechle; she graduated from St. Vincent de Paul High School in Perryville, Missouri in 1988; she earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1993 and her Masters of Natural Science in 2000; she received her Ph.D. in 2007 from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (SIUC); and

WHEREAS, Nancy Blechle worked as an educator at Pinckneyville Community High School; in 2003, she received the Graduate Assistant Outstanding Teaching Award for the College of Education and Human Services at SIUC; in 2008, she was a Coca-Cola Scholar Educator of Distinction, and in 2012, she received KFVS Heartland's Best Teacher Award; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Blechle enjoyed scuba diving, motorcycle riding, camping, traveling, glass bead making, reading, and laughing; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Blechle was preceded in death by her father; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Blechle is survived by her mother; her partner, Ellen Suzanne Smothers; her sisters, Debra Kay (Allan) Quamen and Connie Ann (Norman) Lambert; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nancy Marie Blechle, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nancy Blechle as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
