HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Professional school counselors are employed in a
3variety of school district settings, including private and
4public, rural, suburban, and urban, and are involved in many
5different organizations, including, but not limited to, the
6Illinois School Counselor Association; and
 
7    WHEREAS, School counselors are actively committed to
8helping students explore their abilities, strengths,
9interests, and talents as these traits relate to career
10awareness and development; and
 
11    WHEREAS, School counselors help parents focus on ways to
12further the educational, personal, and social growth of their
13children; and
 
14    WHEREAS, School counselors work with teachers and other
15educators to help students explore their potential and set
16realistic goals for themselves; and
 
17    WHEREAS, School counselors seek to identify and utilize
18community resources that can enhance and complement
19comprehensive school counseling programs and help students
20become productive members of society; and

1    WHEREAS, Comprehensive developmental school counseling
2programs are considered an integral part of the educational
3process that enables all students to achieve success in school;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, It is appropriate that professional school
6counselors be honored for their unmatched contribution to the
7quality of life in the State of Illinois and our educational
8system during a week of recognition; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we designate February 3-7, 2014 as National School Counseling
12Week in the State of Illinois; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the Illinois School Counselor Association as an
15expression of our esteem and respect.
