HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the members of the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation on the occasion of the organization's 25th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation is a non-profit, autonomous, tax-exempt organization directed by citizen volunteers; the foundation's directors include parents, business people, and other members of the District 204 community, as well as the Superintendent and a representative from the Board of Education; and

WHEREAS, The mission of the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation is to support School District 204 in serving the needs of all students through community outreach, financial development, and innovative programs; the foundation also seeks to fund projects which enhance student development, encourage excellence through creative teaching, foster school-community partnerships, and support the School District 204 curriculum, particularly in the arts, sciences, and technology areas; and

WHEREAS, Since its creation in 1988, the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation has provided more than $3 million in educational enrichments for District 204 students, staff, and schools; the foundation has also awarded more than $382,000 in foundation mini-grants and $264,000 in Artist-in-Residence grants and has sponsored many festivals, fairs, and other activities for School District 204 students and faculty; and

WHEREAS, The Indian Prairie Educational Foundation has honored more than 1,200 of School District 204's graduating high-school and middle-school students through its Excellence in Education program; the foundation has also recognized about 800 staff members who were nominated by these students because of the influence they have had on their academic lives; and

WHEREAS, Over the past 25 years, the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation has helped ensure that the students of School District 204 have received the highest quality education possible; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation on the occasion of the organization's 25th anniversary and wish them continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Indian Prairie Educational Foundation as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
