HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Litesa Wallace on the
4occasion of earning her Doctor of Education in educational
5psychology from Northern Illinois University in May of 2013;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has resided in Rockford for over 7
8years; she has contributed to her community through
9volunteering for community organizations, being involved in
10civic efforts, and educating; she teaches many subjects,
11including sociology, career planning, college reading, and
12educational psychology at such institutions as University of
13Wisconsin - Whitewater, Northern Illinois University, and City
14Colleges of Chicago; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace holds a bachelor's degree in
16individual studies from Western Illinois University and a
17master's degree in applied family and child studies with a
18specialization in marriage and family therapy from Northern
19Illinois University; she holds a graduate certificate in
20advanced quantitative methods in education; she was also a
21doctoral fellow in the Diversifying Higher Education Faculty in
22Illinois Fellowship Program; and

1    WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace's dissertation was titled "The
2Relationship Between Racial Identity, Perceived Racial
3Discrimination, and the Academic Self-concept of
4African-American College Men: A Mixed-Methods Examination";
5she presented part of her study at the National Conference on
6Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education in San
7Francisco, California; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has been the recipient of the
9Graduate Leadership Award in University Programming and
10Activities from Northern Illinois University; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has developed and facilitated a
12women's empowerment workshop for Family Services of Southern
13Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, Inc.; she has also been
14heavily involved in the Black Graduate Student Association at
15Northern Illinois University and has served as a counselor at
16Rock Valley College and Rosecrance; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace has served the people of this State
18faithfully as chief of staff for Illinois State Representative
19Chuck Jefferson; in this capacity, she provides casework
20assistance to members of the community and performs numerous
21community outreach initiatives; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Litesa Wallace serves as a model of hard work,

1integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
2Illinois; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
5we congratulate Litesa Wallace on her many achievements and
6contributions to the Rockford community and the State of
7Illinois and for earning her doctoral certificate; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Litesa Wallace as a symbol of our esteem and
11respect.
