HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The recent opening of runway 10C/28C at O'Hare International Airport has caused a dramatic change in the flight patterns and volume over the homes in neighboring communities; many citizens have expressed major concerns about the environmental risks, noise levels, and safety issues that have come with increased flight traffic; and

WHEREAS, Despite the vital importance that O'Hare plays to the local and regional economy, the effects of these new flight patterns on the citizens of our State must be addressed in a manner that benefits both the residents of the affected area and the airport; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we encourage the City of Chicago, the Chicago Department of Aviation, and the Federal Aviation Administration to revisit the current plans for a voluntary and workable Fly Quiet program; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we encourage all relevant entities to explore all available options to ensure that the residents of the affected areas are adequately protected, while also maintaining the economic integrity of O'Hare International Airport; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be delivered to the City of Chicago, the Chicago Department of Aviation, and the Federal Aviation Administration.
