HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Brigadier General Brian E. Alvin on the occasion of his promotion in the United States Army Reserve; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin earned his Bachelor's Degree in industrial technology; he is the first ROTC graduate from Northern Illinois University to attain the rank of brigadier general, a distinction achieved by less than 1% of all United States Army officers; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin was commissioned into the United States Army as a second lieutenant in the Chemical Corps; after his initial assignment with the 2nd Armored Division in Fort Hood, Texas, he served in a variety of command and staff positions in the United States Army Reserve, including commander of the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 807th Medical Brigade, commander of the 413th Civil Affairs Battalion, and commander of the 645th Regional Support Group; he has served as the commander of the United States Forces Garrison on Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan; he also served 2 tours of duty in Baghdad, Iraq, and is currently assigned as the assistant chief of staff - J4 (Logistics) of United States Forces Korea; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin is employed full-time as the global facilities manager for First Solar Corporation in Perrysburg, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin was promoted to the rank of brigadier general during a ceremony on September 7, 2013 at Altgeld Hall in DeKalb; and

WHEREAS, Brigadier General Brian Alvin serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Brigadier General Brian E. Alvin on the occasion of his promotion in the United States Army Reserve and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Brigadier General Brian Alvin and the Northern Illinois University Department of Military Science as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
