HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of legendary
4radio personality Don Wade; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Wade attended a prep school in New Hampshire
6and was a graduate of Boston University; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Don Wade spent 55 years on the radio; after
8spending the first half of his radio career as a disc jockey,
9he spent the last 27 years of his career at WLS-AM; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Don Wade's radio career led him to at least 10
11other cities, including one in Canada, before he landed in
12Chicago in 1982 as a morning personality at country music
13station WUSN-FM 99.5; and
 
14    WHEREAS, In 1985, Don Wade won a spot at WLS-AM, where his
15wife, Roma Wade, joined him as co-host; and
 
16    WHEREAS, When WLS-AM changed from a music format to talk
17radio in 1989, Don Wade and Roma remained with the station as
18morning talk show hosts; and
 
19    WHEREAS, In 2010, "Don Wade and Roma" was the highest-rated

1radio show in the Chicagoland market; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Don Wade will be forever remembered as an
3entertaining, engaging, and thoughtful radio personality who
4used his wit and dynamic personality to shape the medium of
5talk radio; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Don Wade is survived by his wife, Roma; his son,
7Col. Hunter (Dr. Margy) Hobson; his daughter, Heather Hobson
8(Gordon Findlay); his brothers, Tom Wehde (partner, Diane),
9Raynor Reavis, and Ralph (Deborah) Reavis; and his nieces and
10nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn, along with his family, friends, and the citizens of
14this State, the passing of Don Wade; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Don Wade as a symbol of our
17sympathy.
