HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Carol Bauer on the occasion of receiving the "2013 Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator Award" from the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; and

WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Carol Bauer has played a significant role in ensuring a safe and adequate blood supply for her community through her efforts to promote blood donation; and

WHEREAS, In 1993, Carol Bauer began her service as the blood drive coordinator for the Village of Lombard on behalf of Heartland Blood Centers; and

WHEREAS, Since that time, Carol Bauer has increased the number of units collected by blood drives in the Village of Lombard from double to triple digits; and

WHEREAS, Carol Bauer has successfully built partnerships with local organizations and businesses to form blood donor groups, who host their own blood drives in conjunction with those of the Village; and

WHEREAS, Carol Bauer helps to heighten awareness of Village blood drives by encouraging donors to sign up at community events, such as weekly Car Cruise Nights, as well as through Village press releases, water bill inserts, fire station banners, cable television interviews, and even her e-mail signature; and

WHEREAS, Following the untimely death of the late Lombard Village President Mueller, who was a huge supporter of blood donation, Carol Bauer organized an additional memorial blood drive in his honor at 2 locations, bringing the number of blood drives held in Lombard in the past year to 13; and

WHEREAS, Carol Bauer has served as the chairperson of 113 blood drives, which have collected 11,187 pints of blood; those pints of blood have had the potential to save almost 33,600 lives; and

WHEREAS, In 2013, Heartland Blood Centers nominated Carol Bauer as the "Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator" in a state-wide competition hosted by the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Carol Bauer for receiving the "2013 Most Dedicated Blood Drive Coordinator Award", commend her for her years of selfless service and commitment to the community, and wish her continued success in promoting blood donations; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Carol Bauer as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
