HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ruth Badal of the Oswego Public Library District Board on the occasion of her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Badal has been an Oswego area resident for 50 years and an Oswego Public Library Trustee for 12 years; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Badal was first elected to the Oswego Public Library District Board in 1999; she names the construction of the Montgomery Campus Library and the remodel of the Oswego Campus Library as two events that were important to her while she was on the board; and

WHEREAS, The library district includes the Village of Oswego, most of the Village of Montgomery, part of the Village of Plainfield, Boulder Hill, Oswego Township, and the parts of Bristol and Wheatland Townships within the Oswego School District; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Badal is quoted as saying that the library is "the most important institution we have in the entire town. It's open to everybody-and it's for everybody"; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Badal has a natural love for books and reading, as witnessed through her work as a reading specialist at Long Beach Elementary School in Boulder Hill and East View Elementary School; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Badal served as a principal of Boulder Hill Elementary School, Coultrap Elementary School in Geneva, and River Woods Elementary School in Naperville; and

WHEREAS, For the past 5 years, Ruth Badal has worked at Aurora University in the Masters of Arts in Reading program, teaching people to become reading specialists; and

WHEREAS, Ruth Badal hopes to continue her community service in San Antonio, Texas, where she is moving along with her husband to be close to one of her children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Ruth Badal on her retirement and wish her all the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Ruth Badal as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
