HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Brother Rice High School varsity rugby team on winning the State championship on May 27, 2013; and

WHEREAS, The Brother Rice Crusaders claimed their ninth State championship in rugby and the second consecutive one in a thrilling 25-24 victory over Neuqua Valley at the Lemont Blaze Rugby Complex; and

WHEREAS, Nine days before they repeated as State champions, the Brother Rice Crusaders captured a national championship with a 25-17 victory over Greenwich, Connecticut; and

WHEREAS, The Brother Rice Crusaders are William Arundel, Kyler Ayres, Jack Bauschelt, Tim Barry, Pat Beglin, Tom Berzins, Sean Bowen, Kevin Bresnahan, Brendan Brown, Matt Brown, Andrew Canedo, Joe Carroll, Matt Caulfield, Marty Cimaglia, Kris Coleman, Jake Cranston, Ryan Daly, Matt Delaney, Tyler Doidge, Aidan Elliott, Keenan Elliott, Ryan Flynn, James Gannon, Brendan Howard, Sean Kennedy, Joe Leitelt, Sean Martin, Marc McClory, Tim McGinnis, Derek McMahon, Bob Milsap, DeShawn Moore, Luke Mueller, Anthony Murphy, Brian Navarro, Mac Oldfield, Josue Olivares, Nolan Parker, Andrew Perez, Michael Pufunt, Brandon Romero, Cullen Russell, Steve Shilney, Nick Simon, Michael Slattery, Steve Spengel, Nate Swanberg, Dominick Tagler, Brad Thompson, Temo Velazquez, Marty Waddell, and Danny Wojnowski; the head coach is David Fee and the assistant coaches are Sean Sullivan, Jared Camer, and Martin Berry; and

WHEREAS, Future success for the Brother Rice Crusaders varsity rugby team appears on the horizon as the junior varsity team won its 2013 State championship game as well and have yet to lose a game in their short two-year history; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Brother Rice Crusaders on winning the 2013 State championship in rugby and also capturing a 2013 National Championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Brother Rice Crusaders as an expression of our esteem and respect.
