HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Bill
4Stevens, who passed away on June 3, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill Stevens was born on September 6, 1939, in
6Marion; his parents were William and Hazel Victoria Stevens; he
7married Patricia A. Pasquino on December 31, 1960, in St.
8Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Bill Stevens was a retired coal miner, having
10worked for Old Ben No. 24 and Brushy Creek Coal Mine; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Bill Stevens served as mayor of Johnston City; he
12served as chairman for the Williamson County Democratic Party
13and as financial secretary for UMWA Local 2420; he also served
14on the merit board for the police and fire departments in
15Johnston City; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Bill Stevens was a member of Our Lady of Mount
17Carmel Catholic Church in Herrin and formerly attended St.
18Paul's Catholic Church in Johnston City; he was also a member
19of Knights of Columbus in Johnston City and a former member of
20Southern Illinois Enforcement Group; and

1    WHEREAS, Bill Stevens was preceded in death by his parents;
2his sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Ted Martin; and his
3brother-in-law, Wayne Gibbens; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Bill Stevens is survived by his wife of 52 years,
5Pat Stevens; his daughters and son-in-law, Lynn Ann Steh and
6Lori Kay and Danny Beers; his grandchildren, Wesley J. Steh,
7Adra "Addie" Rash (Ryan), and Megan Dawes; his
8great-granddaughter, Aubrey Rash; his brother and
9sister-in-law, the Rev. Larry and Maurene Stevens; his sister,
10Sharon Gibbens; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law,
11Catherine and Henry Moore and Chris Pasquino; his many nieces
12and nephews; his close family friends, John Bradley and Tommy
13Thomas; and his beloved pet, Hazie May; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
17Bill Stevens; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Bill Stevens as an expression of our
20sympathy.
