HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Pink Heals Tour takes pink fire trucks and police cars across the country, carrying the Care Enough to Wear Pink and the Pink Heals Movement to local communities; and

WHEREAS, Pink Heals was founded in 2007 with a focus on helping women who are battling or have battled cancer; Pink Heals recognizes the importance that the women in our lives have on our families and communities; and

WHEREAS, Pink Heals helps to raise awareness and funds for local women and community initiatives; and

WHEREAS, In 2012, the Pink Heals Tour traveled throughout Illinois with stops including Jacksonville, Joliet, Naperville, Downers Grove, Bartlett, Aurora, and Rockford; during that time, the tour made multiple home visits to deliver flowers and hugs to women with cancer; and

WHEREAS, There are currently 4 local chapters of Pink Heals in Illinois: Chicagoland (located in Downers Grove), Naperville, Joliet, and northern Illinois; and

WHEREAS, In 2013, the Pink Heals Tour will be in Illinois on July 3-4 (Jacksonville), July 25 (Freeport), July 26 (Orangeville), July 27 (Rockford), July 28 (McHenry), August 6 (Downers Grove), August 7 (Evanston), August 8 (Bedford Park), August 9 (Bartlett), August 10-11 (Joliet), and August 13-17 at the International Association of Fire Chiefs Annual Conference in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Pink Heals has been supported by proclamations by many politicians including Senators Harry Reid, Joe Liberman, and Sherrod Brown Jr. and Governors Bill Ritter Jr., Janice K. Brewer, and more; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare August 2013 as Pink Heals Tour Month in the State of Illinois and thank them for their commitment to helping those afflicted with breast cancer; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Pink Heals as an expression of our esteem and respect.
