HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Monsignor Doug Hennessy on his retirement from Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington; and

WHEREAS, Monsignor Hennessy has been the pastor of Holy Trinity Catholic Church since 2004; and

WHEREAS, Monsignor Hennessy was born in Bloomington on February 21, 1938; he was ordained on July 14, 1963; and

WHEREAS, Monsignor Hennessy began his career in 1964 as an assistant at St. Paul's in Macomb; he furthered his studies at Fordham University in 1967; in 1968, he worked as diocesan director, religious education, and diocesan director of vocations; he became part-time assistant at St. Patrick's in Peoria in 1970, he was in-residence at St. Martin's in Peoria in 1976, and co-pastor of St. Patrick's in Urbana in 1977; in 1986, he joined the staff of North American College in Rome, Italy; he returned to Illinois in 1991 and became pastor of St. Paul's in Danville; in 2003, he became chaplain to His Holiness; and

WHEREAS, A celebration of Monsignor Hennessy's retirement will be held on July 14, 2013, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of his ordination; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Monsignor Doug Hennessy on his retirement from Holy Trinity Catholic Church; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Monsignor Hennessy as an expression of our esteem and respect.
