HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Jashira Bolden of Belleville for being named one of the top two youth volunteers in Illinois for 2013 in the Prudential Spirit of Community Award program; and

WHEREAS, The Prudential Spirit of Community Award, presented by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, honors young volunteers across America who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to serving their communities; the award is designed to emphasize the importance our nation places on service to others and to encourage all young Americans to contribute to their communities; and

WHEREAS, As a State Honoree, Jashira Bolden received a $1,000 award, an engraved silver medallion, and a trip to Washington, D.C. on May 4-7, 2013 during a series of national recognition events; and

WHEREAS, The success of the State of Illinois, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon the dedication of young people like Jashira Bolden, who use their considerable talents and resources to serve others; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate and honor Jashira Bolden for being named one of the top two youth volunteers in Illinois for 2013 in the Prudential Spirit of Community Award program, recognize her outstanding record of volunteer service, peer leadership, and community spirit, and extend our best wishes for her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jashira Bolden as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
