HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Melody Watson on
4her admirable career as an educator and on the occasion of her
5retirement; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Melody Watson first began teaching in District 308
7at Oswego Junior High and Thompson Junior High; she taught
8health education to 6th and 8th-grade students and life science
9to 7th-grade students; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Melody Watson taught as a substitute teacher at
11DuPue High School and Buda Western High School while starting
12her family; and
 
13    WHEREAS, When Melody Watson returned to work full-time, she
14returned to District 308; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Melody Watson worked at Traughber Junior High
16School, where she taught a 6th-grade self-contained class and
17regular and honors math; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In 2006, Melody Watson transferred to Plank Junior
19High School, where she taught regular and honors math until her
20retirement; and

1    WHEREAS, During her tenure, Melody Watson was honored with
2the Traughber Junior High VIP Award and the Village of Oswego
3Outstanding Education recognition; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Melody Watson served as an outdoor education
5coordinator, junior high math curriculum coordinator, District
6308 Five-Year Plan Committee member, Traughber Junior High
7School Improvement Team member, and Plant Junior High Building
8Leadership Team member; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Melody Watson was involved in junior high
10athletics and served as an athletic aide, intramural basketball
11sponsor, athletic director, and coach for volleyball, track,
12and cheerleading; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Melody Watson was an active member and officer of
14the Oswego Education Association and the Oswego Foundation for
15Educational Excellence; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Melody Watson spent a total of 35 years in
17education, with 31 of them being in District 308; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Melody Watson is recognized for dedicating her
19life's work to the Oswego community, and especially for her
20kindness and patience; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we congratulate Melody Watson on her 35 years in education, her
4dedication to the Oswego community, and her retirement; and be
5it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Melody Watson as a symbol of our respect and
8esteem.
