HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Rosaleen Waters was an avid cyclist and health
3enthusiast throughout her life; she grew up in Elk Grove
4Village with her extended Irish Catholic family; she regularly
5road century rides (100 miles) through Illinois and Michigan;
6she was extremely vigilant about bike safety and would always
7wear a helmet and an orange reflective construction vest; she
8loved nature and riding through forests; she was very spiritual
9and cycling was a part of that; she enjoyed riding often with
10her husband, Tony; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Rosaleen Waters passed away, the victim of a
12bicycle accident with a car; over 300 people attended her
13funeral, which is a tribute to the impact she had on so many
14around her; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Motorists are urged to remain vigilant everyday
16while on the road and refrain from engaging in distracting
17activities while driving; and
 
18    WHEREAS, In honor of Rosaleen Waters we encourage motorists
19to heighten their awareness of bicyclists on the road;
20therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE

1NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we encourage bicyclists and motorists to share the road and be
3vigilant about safety on the road; and be it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Rosaleen Waters as an expression of
6our deepest sympathy.
