HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Rosaleen Waters was an avid cyclist and health enthusiast throughout her life; she grew up in Elk Grove Village with her extended Irish Catholic family; she regularly road century rides (100 miles) through Illinois and Michigan; she was extremely vigilant about bike safety and would always wear a helmet and an orange reflective construction vest; she loved nature and riding through forests; she was very spiritual and cycling was a part of that; she enjoyed riding often with her husband, Tony; and

WHEREAS, Rosaleen Waters passed away, the victim of a bicycle accident with a car; over 300 people attended her funeral, which is a tribute to the impact she had on so many around her; and

WHEREAS, Motorists are urged to remain vigilant everyday while on the road and refrain from engaging in distracting activities while driving; and

WHEREAS, In honor of Rosaleen Waters we encourage motorists to heighten their awareness of bicyclists on the road; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we encourage bicyclists and motorists to share the road and be vigilant about safety on the road; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rosaleen Waters as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
