HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Reverend Kenneth J. York on the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood; and

WHEREAS, Rev. York was ordained on June 4, 1988, at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville by the Most Reverend James P. Keleher; and

WHEREAS, Rev. York has served at numerous parishes in Illinois during his time in the ministry including Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Herrin, Holy Spirit in Carterville, Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville, Blessed Sacrament in Belleville, St. Teresa in Belleville, St. John the Baptist in Smithton, St. Pancratius in Fayette, Immaculate Conception in East St. Louis, St. Barbara in Okawville, and St. Henry in Belleville; and

WHEREAS, Rev. York has accepted appointments as the chancellor for the Diocese of Belleville from June 1995 to the present, as chaplain of the Catholic War Vets, Butz/JOBZ 370 from September 2003 to the present, to the Presbyteral Council from February 2006 to the present, and as Defender of Appeals and Defender of the Bond-Tribunal from December 1998 to 2009; he has been past director of The Diocesan Catholic Relief Programs, Daily Home Missions, Missionary Co-Op, and the Propagation of the Faith; he currently serves on the Priest Personnel Board and the Clergyman's Aid Board; and

WHEREAS, Rev. York has a Juris Canonici Licentia Degree (J.C.L.) and a masters in divinity; and

WHEREAS, Rev. York was born on July 31; his parents were the late Charles and Cecilia (Wuller) York; he has attended Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, Kenrick Seminary in Saint Louis, Missouri, and Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Reverend Kenneth J. York on the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Rev. York as an expression of our esteem and respect.
