HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kevin Sanders, formerly of Plainfield, who passed away on April 18, 2013, as a result of the West Fertilizer Plant Co. explosion in West, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders served with Plainfield's emergency management agency from 2006 to 2011; in addition to being an EMT for the Bruceville-Eddy Volunteer Fire Department in Texas, he worked as a vet tech at Hewitt Veterinary Hospital and the Waco Animal Emergency Clinic, while teaching part time at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was in the middle of an EMT class when the blast occurred; he immediately responded with the first emergency responder team, during which he passed away; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders graduated with honors from Marist High School in Chicago in 1997; he subsequently earned an associate's degree in science from Moraine Valley Community College, an associate's degree of applied science in veterinary technology from Parkland College, and a bachelor's degree in animal science from the University of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders was an altar boy at Sacred Heart Church in Palos Hills; and

WHEREAS, Kevin Sanders is survived by his wife, Sarah, and his son, Reeve; and

WHEREAS, The love for Kevin Sanders from his family shone forth on April 27, 2013, when he returned from Texas for the last time; he was remembered and honored at funeral services on May 1, 2013 at the church of his youth, Sacred Heart Church; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Kevin Sanders; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kevin Sanders as an expression of our sympathy.
