HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Harold "Hap" Gilbert on
4the occasion of his retirement as Mayor of the Village of
5Forsyth on May 6, 2013; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Harold Gilbert was born on April 4, 1940, in the
7Blue Mound area; he married his loving wife, Donna, on April
825, 1959; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Harold Gilbert graduated from MacArthur High
10School in 1958; he subsequently earned his associate's degree
11in industrial technology from Richland Community College; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Harold Gilbert served his country with pride as a
13member of the National Guard from 1958 to 1962; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Harold Gilbert was employed at Caterpillar, Inc.
15for nearly 44 years until his retirement on December 1, 2002;
16and
 
17    WHEREAS, Harold Gilbert was elected to serve as Mayor of
18the Village of Forsyth in 2001 and was reelected to the
19position in 2005 and 2009; he formerly served as a village
20trustee for 22 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Harold Gilbert enjoys bowling, golf, antiquing,
2and spending time with his grandchildren; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Harold Gilbert and his wife have 2 sons, Eric and
4Tim, and 7 grandchildren; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harold Gilbert serves as a model of hard work,
6integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
7Illinois; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
9NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
10we congratulate Harold "Hap" Gilbert on the occasion of his
11retirement as Mayor of the Village of Forsyth and wish him
12continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Harold Gilbert as a symbol of our esteem and
16respect.
