HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Joe Jedlovec on the occasion of his retirement as the Winfield Township Highway Commissioner after 24 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Joe Jedlovec is a lifelong resident of Winfield Township; he and his wife, Mary, have 3 children and 4 grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Joe Jedlovec served his country with pride as a member of the United States Army from 1967 to 1969; he was the recipient of two Bronze Stars and numerous other medals and honors for his meritorious service; and

WHEREAS, Joe Jedlovec was employed as a senior civil engineer with the DuPage County Division of Transportation Engineering and Road Construction Department from 1969 to 1989; in 1989, he began his service as the Winfield Township Highway Commissioner, where he served until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Joe Jedlovec served as a Republican Precinct Committeeman for 23 years and served as Vice Chairman from 1997 to 2001 and as Chairman from 2001 to 2005; he also served as Vice President of the DuPage County Highway Commissioners Association (2001-2013), President of the Northern Illinois Highway Commissioners Association (1993-1999), Secretary (1992-1997), Vice President (1998-2000), and President (2000-2002) of the Highway Division of Township Officials of Illinois, and a member of the Board of Directors for Township Officials of Illinois (2000-2013); and

WHEREAS, Joe Jedlovec is a member of VFW Post 6791 and American Legion Post 300; he is also an active member of the West Chicago Lions club and served as the club's president from 2010 to 2012; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Joe Jedlovec on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Joe Jedlovec as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
