HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to thank Dwight Baird, Chief of
4Police of the Village of Oswego, for his 11 years of service
5and dedication to the residents of Oswego and wish him
6continued success as he takes the next step in his career as
7Kendall County Sheriff; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird was awarded the 2014 Police
9Chief of the Year award because of his dedication to combating
10crime through proven experience and professionalism, which he
11has committed to the residents of the Village of Oswego; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird has dedicated 24 years of
13service to law enforcement, being afforded his start in 1990 as
14a Deputy in the Kendall County Sheriff's Office; he later
15pursued an opportunity with the Village of Oswego, where he was
16later promoted to Chief of Police; as Chief of Police, he is
17known for reducing crime through community crime prevention,
18fiscal accountability, and procuring the necessary tools for
19protecting the residents of Oswego; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird has proven to be a leader in
21law enforcement by educating himself and his staff on the
22newest updated technology and policies available to law

1enforcement; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird's leadership and devotion to
3law enforcement has earned the Oswego Police Department
4National Accreditation from the National Board of Commission on
5Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, which is a
6performance level that only 3% of departments nationwide have
7achieved; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird received his Bachelor's Degree
9in Criminal Justice from Aurora University and his Master's
10Degree in Law Enforcement Justice Administration from Western
11Illinois University; he is also a graduate of the Federal
12Bureau of Investigation's National Academy; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird is the only son of Thomas and
14Marilyn Baird and the father of Bobby Baird; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
16NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
17we commend Oswego Police Chief Dwight Baird for his dedication
18and selfless commitment to law enforcement and the residents of
19the Village of Oswego and the professionalism he instills upon
20his staff and wish him continued success in his departure as he
21accepts the duties and responsibilities as Sheriff of Kendall
22County; and be it further

2presented to Chief Dwight Baird as a symbol of our respect and
3sincere appreciation.
