HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to thank Dwight Baird, Chief of Police of the Village of Oswego, for his 11 years of service and dedication to the residents of Oswego and wish him continued success as he takes the next step in his career as Kendall County Sheriff; and

WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird was awarded the 2014 Police Chief of the Year award because of his dedication to combating crime through proven experience and professionalism, which he has committed to the residents of the Village of Oswego; and

WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird has dedicated 24 years of service to law enforcement, being afforded his start in 1990 as a Deputy in the Kendall County Sheriff's Office; he later pursued an opportunity with the Village of Oswego, where he was later promoted to Chief of Police; as Chief of Police, he is known for reducing crime through community crime prevention, fiscal accountability, and procuring the necessary tools for protecting the residents of Oswego; and

WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird has proven to be a leader in law enforcement by educating himself and his staff on the newest updated technology and policies available to law enforcement; and

WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird's leadership and devotion to law enforcement has earned the Oswego Police Department National Accreditation from the National Board of Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, which is a performance level that only 3% of departments nationwide have achieved; and

WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird received his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Aurora University and his Master's Degree in Law Enforcement Justice Administration from Western Illinois University; he is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy; and

WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird is the only son of Thomas and Marilyn Baird and the father of Bobby Baird; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we commend Oswego Police Chief Dwight Baird for his dedication and selfless commitment to law enforcement and the residents of the Village of Oswego and the professionalism he instills upon his staff and wish him continued success in his departure as he accepts the duties and responsibilities as Sheriff of Kendall County; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Dwight Baird as a symbol of our respect and sincere appreciation.
