HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of
3Representatives pays honor and respect to the truly great
4individuals who have served our country, and in doing so, have
5gone above and beyond the call of duty; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Lovelace "Ace" Kitchen served as a Sergeant in the
7United States Army Air Corps with the 556th Bombardment
8Squadron during World War II; he served as a radio operator and
9gunner with the AAF 757; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lovelace Kitchen's overseas battles included
11those in Central Europe, the Ardennes, and the Rhineland; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lovelace Kitchen took part in the infamous Battle
13of the Bulge; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Lovelace Kitchen flew in a Martin B-26 Marauder -
15a twin engine airplane designed for bombing at a low level; and
 
16    WHEREAS, During his service, Lovelace Kitchen was awarded 4
17Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, an Air Medal with 2 Oak
18Leaf Clusters, an American Theatre Campaign Ribbon, a European
19African-Middle Eastern Theatre Campaign Ribbon, 2 Overseas
20Bars, and a Victory Ribbon; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we recognize Lovelace "Ace" Kitchen for his heroic actions
4during World War II and we thank him for his service to his
5country; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Lovelace Kitchen as an expression of our esteem
8and respect.
