HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Chief Dean H. Strzelecki on the occasion of his retirement from the Village of Niles Police Department after 39 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Chief Strzelecki joined the Niles Police Department on November 1, 1975; in 1983, he was transferred from the Patrol Division to the Investigation Division; and

WHEREAS, Chief Strzelecki was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in August of 1988, to Commander in August of 1992, and to Deputy Chief of Police in February of 2000; he was appointed to the position of Chief of Police in September of 2004; he graduated from the FBI National Academy in March of 2000; and

WHEREAS, Chief Strzelecki received the Chiefs Valor Award in October of 1988 for saving a woman from a fire at her home; he is a member of the Niles Chamber of Commerce & Industry and was presented with its Niles Citizen of the Year Award in 1995 and the Ken Scheel Chamber Member of the Year Award in 2006; in 2012, he was recognized as Chief of the Year by the Illinois Crime Prevention Association, and, in 2014, he was named the Cook County Police Chief of the Year by the Illinois State Crime Commission; and

WHEREAS, Chief Strzelecki will be retiring on November 14, 2014; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chief Dean H. Strzelecki on his retirement from the Village of Niles Police Department after 39 year of service and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Strzelecki as an expression of our esteem and respect.
