HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, September 12, 2014 marks the 10th anniversary of the Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Committee annual breakfast; and

WHEREAS, The Hispanic Pioneers Breakfast has honored Hispanics who have influenced Aurora's progress; and

WHEREAS, The inaugural event honored the migration of the first Hispanics to Aurora and the historical significance of the Eola Boxcar Camp; and

WHEREAS, In subsequent years, the breakfast has honored Hispanics who: have risked their lives on the battlefield; served as public safety officers; became the city's first Hispanic business owners, the city's first Hispanic teachers, health care professionals, and those dedicated to the arts; and those who founded area sports leagues; and

WHEREAS, The 10th anniversary breakfast will honor Aurora's Unsung Heroes; and

WHEREAS, Aurora 2nd Ward Alderman Juany Garza has been an instrumental part of the Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Committee; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Aurora 2nd Ward Alderman Juany Garza and the Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Committee on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Committee annual breakfast and wish them continued success in their future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Aurora Second Ward Alderman Juany Garza and the Aurora Hispanic Pioneers Committee as an expression of our esteem and respect.
