HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Bishop Embra R. Patterson, Jr. on being the first Church of God in Christ Bishop in the City of Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Patterson is the founding Pastor of Kingdom Temple Church of God in Christ, and President of the Kingdom Temple Outreach Ministries, Inc. in Peoria; and

WHEREAS, Bishop Patterson has been involved in many Peoria community civic organizations over the last 38 years including, the Peoria City Beautiful Council, the Peoria District 150 Advisory Board, the Peoria Race Relations Commission, the Peoria Chamber of Commerce, the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce Planning Committee, the Peoria Black Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman, and the Peoria Area Conventions and Visitors Bureau; and

WHEREAS, In 2013, Bishop Patterson retired after 35 years of service with Ameren Illinois, formerly the Central Illinois Light Company, progressing through various levels of responsibility; he was consecrated the Jurisdictional Bishop of the Southern Illinois Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God In Christ, Inc. in November 2013; and

WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of his appointment will be held on July 18, 2014 at the Embassy Suites and Conference Center in East Peoria; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Bishop Embra R. Patterson, Jr. on being the first Church of God in Christ Bishop in the City of Peoria; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Bishop Patterson as an expression of our esteem and respect.
