HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Steven
4Douglas Little of Gurnee, who passed away on June 25, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Steven Little was born on October 27, 1961 in
6Peoria; his parents were James and Georgia Little; he married
7Carla Norrene Williams in 1990; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Steven Little attended Hines Grade School and
9graduated from Woodruff High School in 1980; he earned
10All-American honors in football at Peoria Woodruff High School
11and was an All-State wrestler and a record-holding shot putter
12and discus thrower; he was inducted into their Hall of Fame in
131986 and 2010; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Steven Little earned a Bachelor of Science Degree
15from Iowa State University in 1986; during college, he was a
163-year starter, a 4-time letterman, MVP of the defensive line,
17team captain, and an All Big Eight performer; following his
18collegiate career, he signed NFL player contracts with the
19Pittsburgh Steelers, Detroit Lions, and Atlanta Falcons; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Steven Little spent 3 seasons as defensive
21coordinator and assistant head coach at Trinity International

1University, making the NAIA playoffs and coaching in the All
2American Bowl; he also spent 9 seasons with the Chicago Bears
3as an assistant linebacker coach, assistant defensive line
4coach, and assistant physical development coordinator; he then
5coached the San Francisco 49ers, serving as a coach in the 1994
6NFL Pro Bowl and participating in NFL Internship programs with
7the Buffalo Bills and Carolina Panthers; at the collegiate
8level, he coached at Northern Illinois University, Purdue
9University, Temple University, and Iowa State University,
10where he coached and trained numerous future NFL players; his
11final coaching experience was at Lake Forest College in Lake
12Forest; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Steven Little is survived by his wife, Carla; 4
14children, Kristen, Kelsey, Keralynn, and Kamille; his parents;
152 brothers, James and Brian (Anise) Little; a sister, Barbara
16Jean Williams-Brooks; several beloved sisters-in-law, nieces,
17and nephews; and 2 dogs, C.J. and Karmela; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
20we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of
21Steven Douglas Little; and be it further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
23presented to the family of Steven Little as an expression of
