HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Mona Johnson of Glen Ellyn on the occasion of her retirement as a social worker for District 209-Proviso West High School; and

WHEREAS, Mona Johnson began working for District 209-Proviso West High School in Hillside as a social worker in 1979; during her career she also spent time as a instructor at the College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn from 1989 to 1992, and as a private practice psychotherapist in Oak Park from 1981 to 1984; and

WHEREAS, During her time with District 209, Mona Johnson developed, hired, and supervised the faculty for the Truant-Mentor Program, developed and implemented the After School Alternative Program, and organized and developed the first Crisis Intervention Plan Handbook and Team; and

WHEREAS, Mona Johnson served in various roles with District 209, including Dean of the Alternative Evening School Program, Coordinator of the Drug Free and Substance Abuse Program, a Negotiation Team Member for the District 209 Teachers' Union in 2005, and President of the District 209 Teachers' Union; and

WHEREAS, Prior to joining District 209-Proviso West High School, Mona Johnson worked as a Medical Social Worker at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood from 1977 to 1979, and as an Intern Social Worker at Horace Mann Elementary School in Oak Park from 1974 to 1975; and

WHEREAS, Mona Johnson received her Bachelor of Science from George Williams College in Downers Grove in 1975, her Master of Social Work from the University of Illinois-Chicago in 1977, and her Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership from Aurora University in 2005; and

WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Mona Johnson's retirement will be held on July 19, 2014 at the Linder Conference Center in Lombard; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mona Johnson on her retirement as a social worker for District 209-Proviso West High School, and wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mona Johnson as an expression of our esteem and respect.
