HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Sean Considine of
4the Baltimore Ravens on his Super Bowl championship; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sean Considine is originally from Byron; he
6graduated from Byron High School and currently lives there with
7his wife and 4 children; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Sean Considine played high school football at
9Byron High School; he received several honors during his high
10school football career including being named first team
11all-conference selection as a sophomore, junior, and senior; he
12was named to Illinois Coaches Association all-State team as a
13junior and senior and was named first team all-State as a
14senior by the Chicago Sun-Times and special mention by the
15Chicago Tribune; he assisted his team in winning the State
16title in 1999 and he holds the school records for career
17rushing yards, touchdowns in a season, and touchdowns in a
18career; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Sean Considine went on to play football at the
20University of Iowa, where he received the academic all-Big Ten
21honor 3 years in a row and earned the Hustle Team Award for
22special teams 2 years in a row; in 2003, he won the Coaches

1Appreciation Award for defense, the Hustle Team Award for
2defense, and was one of 3 juniors to be selected to team
3Leadership Council, and was selected to the Leadership Council
4again his senior year; during his junior year he tied for fifth
5in the Big Ten Conference in the number of recovered fumbles;
6and
 
7    WHEREAS, Sean Considine was drafted as a 4th round pick in
8the 2005 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles; he played with
9the Eagles from 2005-2008, where he posted a career high 14
10tackles in one game against Washington in 2006; he went on to
11play with the Jacksonville Jaguars from 2009-2010, then in
122011, he played with the Carolina Panthers and Arizona
13Cardinals; in 2012 he played with the Baltimore Ravens; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Playing with the Baltimore Ravens, Sean Considine
15finished fourth on the team with 7 special teams tackles; he
16led the team with 2 solo special teams tackles in the game
17against Washington; he has a career total of 100 special teams
18stops; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Sean Considine was a member of the Baltimore
20Ravens team that played in and won Super Bowl XLVII, where he
21made a key block in the opening of the third quarter allowing a
22touchdown by a fellow teammate which became the longest kickoff
23return in Super Bowl history; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we congratulate Sean Considine for his Super Bowl championship
4and wish him all the best in his future endeavors; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to Sean Considine as a symbol of our recognition of
8his great achievement.
