HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dan Schimmel on the occasion of his retirement as Executive Director of the Buffalo Grove Park District; and

WHEREAS, Dan Schimmel has worked in parks and recreation for 24 years and has held the position of Executive Director of the Buffalo Grove Park District for the past 4 years; and

WHEREAS, Dan Schimmel helped build the fitness center in 1999 and the golf center in 2000, and he oversaw the approximately 14-year overhaul of the Busch Grove space into Rylko Park, which now holds the farmers market and a water playground; under his guidance, the district has agreed to purchase Congregation Beth Am's building, and is converting it into a performing arts center; and

WHEREAS, Dan Schimmel got his start in parks and recreation as a volunteer; while a student at Marine West High School he became a swim instructor, and then a lifeguard; and

WHEREAS, Dan Schimmel's retirement becomes effective in December of 2014; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dan Schimmel on his retirement as Executive Director of the Buffalo Grove Park District, and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dan Schimmel as an expression of our esteem and respect.
