HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dennis Carpenter on the occasion of his retirement as police chief of the Village of South Roxana; and

WHEREAS, Chief Carpenter attended the police academy at Southwestern Illinois College; he started with the South Roxana Police Department in 1978 as a part-time officer and was hired full-time in 1984; he was appointed chief of police in 1986; and

WHEREAS, While serving as chief of police, Chief Carpenter also served as the zoning director, economic development director, and village administrator; and

WHEREAS, Chief Carpenter's leadership has helped solve crimes including, kidnapping, drug dealing, sex offenses, domestic battery, and heroin overdoses; and

WHEREAS, It was under Chief Carpenter's leadership that the South Roxana Police department solved the single murder that has occurred since the village's incorporation; and

WHEREAS, Chief Carpenter is married to South Roxana Village Clerk, Tina Carpenter, and together they have 4 children and 6 grandchildren; in retirement, he plans to travel, hunt, fish, and garden; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dennis Carpenter on the occasion of his retirement as police chief of the Village of South Roxana, and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chief Carpenter as an expression of our esteem and respect.
