HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Hillary Shumate on the occasion of being named the Illinois PTA Outstanding Teacher of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Hillary Shumate has served as a literacy teacher at Hadley Junior High School since 2002; she has sponsored many student clubs and has served on committees; she is also the founder of POW! (Powerful Outstanding Women!), a collaborative effort with the PTA to help Hadley girls reach their true potential; and

WHEREAS, Hillary Shumate helped launch the Animal Helpers Club several years ago; she is also the co-chair of the district's Professional Development Team and a member of the Continuous Improvement Team; and

WHEREAS, Hillary Shumate was selected by the Hadley PTA as its Illinois PTA Outstanding Teacher of the Year nominee for her boundless passion for education, her exemplary teamwork skills, and her commitment to growing and improving as an educator; and

WHEREAS, Hillary Shumate serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Hillary Shumate on the occasion of being named the Illinois PTA Outstanding Teacher of the Year and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Hillary Shumate as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
