SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
20 ILCS 5/717 new

    Creates the Government Reform Task Force to investigate ways to streamline State government, reduce spending and waste, find and suggest changes to duplicative, onerous, or redundant statutes and rules, and make suggestions to eliminate any other inefficiencies in the manner in which State government conducts State business. Sets forth Task Force membership. Provides that members of the Task Force shall not receive compensation for services, but may be reimbursed for their reasonable expenses. Requires the Task Force to submit a report to the Governor and the General Assembly on or before January 1, 2015. Contains a repealer provision.

1    AN ACT concerning State government.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is
5amended by adding Section 717 as follows:
 
6    (20 ILCS 5/717 new)
7    Sec. 717. Government Reform Task Force.
8    (a) On or before June 1, 2014, the Government Reform Task
9Force is created to investigate ways to streamline State
10government, reduce spending and waste, find and suggest changes
11to duplicative, onerous, or redundant statutes and rules, and
12make suggestions to eliminate any other inefficiencies in the
13manner in which State government conducts State business.
14    (b) The Task Force shall be comprised of the following:
15        (1) Two members appointed by the Speaker of the House
16    of Representatives.
17        (2) Two members appointed by the Minority Leader of the
18    House of Representatives.
19        (3) Two members appointed by the President of the
20    Senate.
21        (4) Two members appointed by the Minority Leader of the
22    Senate.
23        (5) The Director of Central Management Services or his

1    or her designee.
2        (6) One member to serve as Chairperson appointed by the
3    Governor.
4    (c) The members of the Task Force shall not receive
5compensation, but may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses
6incurred while carrying out the duties and responsibilities of
7the Task Force.
8    (d) The Task Force shall submit a report of its findings
9and suggestions to the Governor and the General Assembly on or
10before January 1, 2015.
11    (e) This Section is repealed on January 1, 2016.
