SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
230 ILCS 40/30

    Amends the Video Gaming Act. Provides that a video gaming terminal operator may own, manage, or control a licensed establishment or licensed truck stop establishment as long as the video gaming terminal operator does not place video gaming terminals he or she owns, services, and maintains within that licensed establishment or licensed truck stop establishment. Effective immediately.

1    AN ACT concerning gaming.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Video Gaming Act is amended by changing
5Section 30 as follows:
 
6    (230 ILCS 40/30)
7    Sec. 30. Multiple types of licenses prohibited. A video
8gaming terminal manufacturer may not be licensed as a video
9gaming terminal operator or own, manage, or control a licensed
10establishment, licensed truck stop establishment, licensed
11fraternal establishment, or licensed veterans establishment,
12and shall be licensed to sell only to persons having a valid
13distributor's license or, if the manufacturer also holds a
14valid distributor's license, to sell, distribute, lease, or
15market to persons having a valid terminal operator's license. A
16video gaming terminal distributor may not be licensed as a
17video gaming terminal operator or own, manage, or control a
18licensed establishment, licensed truck stop establishment,
19licensed fraternal establishment, or licensed veterans
20establishment, and shall only contract with a licensed terminal
21operator. A video gaming terminal operator may not be licensed
22as a video gaming terminal manufacturer or distributor or own,
23manage, or control a licensed establishment, licensed truck

1stop establishment, licensed fraternal establishment, or
2licensed veterans establishment, and shall be licensed only to
3contract with licensed distributors and licensed
4establishments, licensed truck stop establishments, licensed
5fraternal establishments, and licensed veterans
6establishments. An owner or manager of a licensed
7establishment, licensed truck stop establishment, licensed
8fraternal establishment, or licensed veterans establishment
9may not be licensed as a video gaming terminal manufacturer,
10distributor, or operator, and shall only contract with a
11licensed operator to place and service this equipment.
12Notwithstanding the provisions of this Section, a video gaming
13terminal operator may own, manage, or control a licensed
14establishment or licensed truck stop establishment as long as
15the video gaming terminal operator does not place video gaming
16terminals he or she owns, services, and maintains within that
17licensed establishment or licensed truck stop establishment.

19    Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
20becoming law.
