SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michael "MAB" Buckley of Bloomington, who passed away on September 8, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Mike Buckley was born in Normal on April 30, 1944; he was raised in the Bloomington-Normal area; he attended Bloomington and Normal schools in his youth; he graduated from the Western Military Academy in Alton; he attended the University of Arkansas; he married Bette Mortimore in 1988, and they moved to Florida soon after; and

WHEREAS, Mike Buckley worked in sales with his father at the Buckley Advertising Company in Normal; he eventually took over his father's business, becoming owner and president; after moving to Florida, he started and excelled in his second career as an insurance agent; and

WHEREAS, Mike Buckley was a wonderful father; he was a record-breaking swimmer in his day and an accomplished pool player; he enjoyed golfing with his friends; he will be remembered for his witty sense of humor, funny stories, and exaggerated retelling of events; and

WHEREAS, Mike Buckley was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Betty Buckley; his sister, Connie Fitch; and his wife, Bette Mortimore Buckley; and

WHEREAS, Mike Buckley is survived by his children, Lisa (James) Mikus, Tina Cox, and Tyler (Angela) Buckley; his grandchildren, Matt Mikus, Will Mikus, Colton Buckley, and Emersyn Buckley; his niece, Debbie Polzin; his nephews, Jeff (Shawn) Polzin and Mike (Grace) Polzin; his former wife and the mother of Tyler and Tina, Patsy Henderson Bowles; and his many friends from Bloomington and Florida; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Michael "MAB" Buckley and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mike Buckley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
