HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Mr. Anthony Tegtmeyer on being named the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Engineering Teacher of the Year at the recent PLTW Summit in Indianapolis; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Tegtmeyer is a teacher at Neuqua Valley High School in Indian Prairie School District 204 in Naperville; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Tegtmeyer is a PLTW Master Teacher for Engineering Design and Development; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Tegtmeyer worked as an industry engineer for more than 20 years before becoming a high school engineering teacher; his experience has been a great resource to students who attend Neuqua Valley High School; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Tegtmeyer leads a rigorous engineering curriculum at Neuqua Valley High School, including Introduction to Engineering Design, Principles of Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architecture, Digital Electronics, and Engineering Design and Development, with Aerospace Engineering to be added as a curriculum offering in the fall of 2020; and

WHEREAS, Through this coursework, his students learn transferable skills through project-based and problem-based learning, which provides students with real-world applications; and

WHEREAS, Anthony Tegtmeyer enhances these learning opportunities by inviting guest speakers from local companies to teach students through hands-on learning experiences; he also utilizes cross-curricular opportunities to tie engineering to marketing; and

WHEREAS, The success and growth of the PLTW program has led to competitions and generous scholarship offerings for students; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Anthony Tegtmeyer on recently being named the PLTW Engineering Teacher of the Year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we thank Anthony Tegtmeyer for answering the call to teach and for being a positive influence on the engineering students at Neuqua Valley High School; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Anthony Tegtmeyer as an expression of our esteem and respect.
