HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to recognize former Illinois State
4University women's basketball head coach Jill Hutchison; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison spent 28 seasons as the head
6women's basketball coach at Illinois State University; she
7compiled a record of 461 wins and 323 losses, the winningest
8coach in school history for either the men or women; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison led her teams to five Gateway
10Conference Titles, seven Association for Intercollegiate
11Athletics for Women (AIAW) state championships, two AIAW
12national tournaments, seven Women's National Invitation
13Tournament appearances, and three NCAA Tournaments; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison is a three-time Missouri Valley
15Conference Coach of the Year; she is a four-time national
16president of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and
17coached two USA Olympians; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison led the United States to a Silver
19Medal at the 1978 Pan American Games and a Gold Medal at the
201983 World University Games; and

1    WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison is credited for influencing the
2growth of the women's game from relative obscurity to its
3current level of popularity; she was inducted into the Illinois
4Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1993 and the
5Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we recognize former Illinois State University women's
9basketball head coach Jill Hutchison, and we wish her the best
10in all her future endeavors; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Jill Hutchison as a symbol of our respect and
13esteem.
