HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize former Illinois State University women's basketball head coach Jill Hutchison; and

WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison spent 28 seasons as the head women's basketball coach at Illinois State University; she compiled a record of 461 wins and 323 losses, the winningest coach in school history for either the men or women; and

WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison led her teams to five Gateway Conference Titles, seven Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) state championships, two AIAW national tournaments, seven Women's National Invitation Tournament appearances, and three NCAA Tournaments; and

WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison is a three-time Missouri Valley Conference Coach of the Year; she is a four-time national president of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and coached two USA Olympians; and

WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison led the United States to a Silver Medal at the 1978 Pan American Games and a Gold Medal at the 1983 World University Games; and

WHEREAS, Jill Hutchison is credited for influencing the growth of the women's game from relative obscurity to its current level of popularity; she was inducted into the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1993 and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize former Illinois State University women's basketball head coach Jill Hutchison, and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jill Hutchison as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
