SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mildred Louise "Millie" Olsen, formerly of Waukegan, who passed away on June 10, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Olsen was born in Waukegan on November 19, 1924 to Sanford and Erma Harrison; she married Thomas Michael Olsen in 1945; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Olsen and her husband owned and operated the Feast House Restaurant on Grand Avenue in Waukegan for 2 decades; she then pursued a career in interior design and opened Dawnmarie's Touch of Elegance, which she ran for over 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Olsen was an accomplished ballerina and tap dancer and was a member of a professional dance troupe; her love of dance lasted throughout her lifetime; she was an avid golfer and was a member of the Glen Flora Country Club for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, After retiring, Mildred Olsen moved to Sarasota, Florida; she was a member of the Meadows Country Club and the Red Hat Ladies; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Olsen was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Tom and 3 sisters, Edna, Frances, and Marion; and

WHEREAS, Mildred Olsen and her husband had 3 children, Thomas Olsen II (Sandra), Dianne (Evan Voights), and Dawn Marie (Peter Krupa); 6 grandchildren, Thomas Olsen III (Jackie), Kate (Loren) Kreiss, Melissa Anne Voights, Kimberlee (Brad) Miller, Kelly Marie Krupa, and Kristine (Alex) Solo; and 6 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Mildred Louise "Millie" Olsen, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mildred Olsen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
