SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eustachia "Diane" Grubaugh of Ottawa, who passed away on May 3, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Diane Grubaugh was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 8, 1940 to Roy Eldon and Nellie Darlene (nee Hall) Knoedler; she attended Grand Ridge Grade School and graduated from Ottawa Township High School; she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Nursing in 1963; she married Donald Leonard Grubaugh on October 5, 1963 at First Presbyterian Church in Grand Ridge; and

WHEREAS, Diane Grubaugh was a practicing registered nurse for more than 40 years, beginning at Ryburn Memorial Hospital and then at Community Hospital of Ottawa; she was the administrator of the Home Health Department when the hospital created the program and she spent nearly half of her career as a home health nurse; and

WHEREAS, Diane Grubaugh was active in her community in countless ways throughout her lifetime; some of her volunteer activities included school room mother, Cub Scout and Campfire Leader, tutor, and mentor; she was a strong advocate for women's rights and took a keen interest in current events; she enjoyed reading, knitting, cooking, gardening, nature, learning, traveling, and dancing with her husband; and

WHEREAS, Diane Grubaugh was preceded in death by her parents; and

WHEREAS, Diane Grubaugh is survived by her husband, Don Grubaugh; her daughters, Dawn (Doug) Tedrick and Elizabeth (Tim) Drea; her son, Donny (Julie) Grubaugh; her grandchildren, Cameron and Kyle Tedrick, Andrew, Bridget, Lillian, and Jack Drea, and Jacob and Piper Grubaugh; her sisters, Shirley (Brian) Painter and Marcia (Pete) Strigin; her brother, Roy (Dottie) Knoedler; and numerous nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eustachia "Diane" Grubaugh, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Diane Grubaugh as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
